Vision + Mission

REAL Durham envisions an equitable Durham where communities are poverty-free and thriving.

Our mission: To create community by building relationships across lines of privilege, race and classto improve economic stability for everyone.

 

Staff

Camryn Smith

Director of Implementation and Community Education

Camryn is a resident of Old East Durham as well as an organizer and activist. She coordinates and leads REAL Durham implementation, including leading, training and support for REAL Durham leaders, allies and volunteers.  She uses her skills and training as an asset-based, anti-racism trainer to educate and build capacity within the community on the differences of the impact of charity versus solidarity.

Veronica Terry

Childcare Coordinator

Veronica is a resident of East Durham. She is a mother of seven and an active member of the East Durham community. Her work includes collaborating with other neighbors and KaBOOM! to build the Cherry Grove playground behind Shepherd’s House Church, working with Fostering Alternative Drug Enforcement (FADE), NC Organizing Against Racism (OAR), and her neighborhood grassroots organization, Communities in Partnership (CIP).
